It was a map that only labeled 7 or 8 countries via callouts. So, pretty easy to see how they could all be wrong.

...but wouldn't take much effort to check at least one of them! Who doesn't know Nigeria has a coast?

That means not a single person who laid eyes on it had at least a cursory knowledge of the geography of Africa.

It also means people are talking authoritatively about something without checking that what they are saying is correct.t

The lack of attention to detail, even in the absence of geographical knowledge, is inexcusable and a recipe for disaster: what other decisions are being made with the wrong information?
