What a disingenuous title. All people were asked to refrain from clapping, this teacher refused to comply, was asked to leave by the police, then refused to leave and made them drag him out. Then he was subsequently changed with disorderly conduct.I'm not saying you have to agree with the actions taken here. It's fine to argue that they were illegitimate. But summarizing that series of events as "teacher arrested for clapping in opposition" is so misleading that it is almost an outright lie. The situation is more complex than that, nor was it the case (as the headline implies) that this teacher was arrested due to opposing the data center measure.

What you describe is a teacher getting arrested for clapping. Yes, they got arrested after being asked not to clap. But they were arrested for clapping. The clapping was characterized as disorderly conduct. But they were arrested for clapping. Clapping, five times, in polite agreement with a speaker at a town hall.Notably, the crowd was told not to clap during people's speech; the teacher clapped after a speech ended.
There is no lie. The crowd was upset and voicing their displeasure. The police responded to protected speech, at a venue intended for public commentary, by forceful removal. If that isn't an arrest due to opposing the government's proposal, I don't know what is.

He was asked to leave, and refused and said drag him out. That's what he was arrested for. That's the disorderly conduct There really isn't any room for any other interpretation here. That's why clickbait dishonest journalism like that sucks, we're now discussing pedantry like this rather than, "should he have been asked to leave in the first place? is this being enforced because of his stance on AI, or is there something going on here?"It however is entirely normal in these types of meetings to require the audience to refrain from making any kind of comments or noise during a speaker's turn. And people regularly get kicked out of these, I've been to many - and you absolutely can get arrested if you refuse to leave.

Honestly if you can’t protest at a public meeting then you dont have free speech.The fact that someone can actually ask you to leave a public meeting like this implies some sort of weird authority that genuinely should not exist.

It's not disingenuous. Clapping politely is Constitutionally protected free speech.Rule of law on violating an unlawful request in a situation like this one is not complex. It's the same as when an officer asks you to stop filming.
