You Opened a Credit Card. ICE Now Knows Where You Live

Not unrelated, this kind of information augments all kinda of law enforcement, greatly increasing the lifetime consequences of convictions, though sentencing penalties have remained the same.

Last century, a year in jail ended after the year. Now it is still there for every job application, lease, and loan you might take out in life.

The justice industry benefits with easy information, punishments are amplified and permanent, but crimes keep happening.

Let’s reconsider whether our medieval system benefits society or simply controls and exploits it.

Nah, we had the "Have you been convicted of a felony in the past 7 years" job application question in the 80's. And background checks were accessible.

The phrase "The Justice Industry" made me throw up in my mouth a little. How far we have fallen.

My state touts that some felonies are eligible for vacation. One of the criteria is "The person has reached 120 years of age."

Wow, this thread really is a cesspool.

Lefties didn't have a problem with this when the intent was tracking ammo purchases.

None of them would want ICE to have that information.

And that's even ignoring for the moment the fact that things which are obvious weapons and things which are not obvious weapons pose different fundamental risks to society and that therefore it's always a stretch to lump them into the same category.

Ahem, you misspelled completely legal-to-own weapons. Whereas ICE is tracking illegal immigration activity.

If your objection to registering ammo purchases is that they are legal to own, well, I will remind you that so are credit cards.

Nor did they care about establishing vaccine card check points throughout civil society. Imagine if we got to do citizenship checks at bars and restaurants and doctor's offices.

> Nor did they care about establishing vaccine card check points throughout civil society.

And yet the Biden Administration explicitly said it would not require vaccine passports from businesses and never built any national vaccination database or app, so this was just the usual conservative fearmongering.

There was also never an instance whereby vaccine status was required for any kind of travel between states or in daily life outside specific covered venues (for example, restaurants and gyms in NYC, where people would be in very close proximity to others with no other prophylaxis being used).

Meanwhile, conservative NPs are getting jailed and losing their licenses for forging vaccine cards for $7,000 a pop. As they should.

> Imagine if we got to do citizenship checks at bars and restaurants and doctor's offices.

In the last three days, ICE has pulled someone over for a "traffic violation" (which they have zero authority to do) and then said "Your taillights are out. Your papers please."

Do continue with the strawman.

The biden admin didn't have to establish anything, every bouncer and doorman in bars and concert venues in NYC were asking "papers please".

My daughter had to wait extra long at the hospital for her appointment because some illegal was having an 'emergency' - ICE should arrest them first.

Good! Illegal aliens shouldn’t get credit from any source. They’re bad risks, especially if they get deported…

You don't have to be an illegal alien to want to keep ICE/Border patrol from knowing things about you. They're a threat to everybody.

They’re a threat to those fearing deportation or arrest for criminal activity. If you’re not in those categories, you have exactly nothing to worry about.

I’m a lot more worried about the giant NSA data centers like the one in Utah, funded under prior administrations. Those are definitely warehousing wide-ranging data about all Americans (and others), harvested right off the Internet backbone…

Oh yes, we definitely don't have news or straight up video of people who are regular citizens getting killed for no reason by ICE or even non-citizens getting effectively executed without trial.

You may have made-up “news” from the usual suspects, but you don’t have video. The videos of Good, Pretti, and the alien recently shot for using his vehicle as a weapon sure don’t show innocent victims dying at the hands of ICE. Any other law enforcement agency involved in the same incidents would have acted much the same.

In every case, the deceased put themselves in situations that lead to their deaths.

In two cases (Good and the alien), they attempted to use their vehicles as weapons.

In Pretti’s case he brought a pistol to a protest (illegal in his location), inserted himself into a detainment attempt, and struggled with officers. He may not have fired the shot that startled the officers surrounding him, causing them to fire (they all knew he was carrying), but he would sure be alive today if he hadn’t done the other things.

They say stupidity should be painful. In these cases, it was fatal.

From what I've seen, this just isn't true. Anyone who isn't visibly licking their boots is at risk.

Maybe stay away from the Reddit bullshit koolaid.
