Zitron is fun to listen to but he's so far on one side of the debate that it's hard to take his stances seriously. E.g. "PR scam" also known as marketing. I can't really fault them for the stunt.I think the real point to hammer on is that Anthropic can't actually afford to give the masses the model because it's too expensive. The actual 'scam' is that we get frontier models that degrade over time because they water down their capabilities after launch in order to manipulate the hype cycle. Yet we pay the same amount every month.

Marketing being dishonest wouldnt be such a problem when people would expect it to be so. Unfortunately, when you look at the investments and thus the economic alignment, alot of powerful decisionmakers take that same marketing at face value. Framing this as a scam or delusional isnt that far fetched imo.by throwawayqqq11
