We all hope for a last love.

One of the most depressing things I've ever read

I found it strangely uplifting. Widowed three times, failing health, yet she still manages to find joy in the little things.

It's always the little things that matter.

That someone found love in a care home?

The article as a whole. Like, life shouldn't be that harsh.

Bloody hell - that hits hard

I've read the introduction, guessed it will end in tragedy, skimmed fast through the article, jumped in the end and confirmed it ended in tragedy and saved myself from ruining my mood from reading something depressing.

Everything ends in tragedy eventually.

They got some time together, so it's a happy story overall. It's all any of us could ask for.

Funny, I always enjoy reading anything dark/morbid/depressing. Tends to have the opposite effect of putting a pep in my step - all those things add flavour and texture to life and make me appreciate being alive.

You have no empathy?

Opposite, got a lot of it. But I do err on the less sympathetic side - I don't believe in feeling sorry for ourselves or each other under most circumstances. Life is a test of our resolve.

That's very uncharitable reading.

What's charitable one?

Exactly that. Gives me a kick. Do stuff now. Don't wait.
