This take is so tired. No, systemd was no political movement pushed onto distros against their will. The people who actually develop and maintain distros chose to adopt it because it solved real problems they had and simplified their lives a lot.No, systemd is not monolithic, no it does not ignore the Unix philosophy. It is a suite of independent but coherent tools developed in a monorepo. This is actually much closer to Unix and the BSDs than what the Linux ecosystem does.
