What would prevent this from working with something like Vlc or kodi?

Is it as simple as upgrading to a trunk based kernel?

Oh that’s interesting. 3588 in a passive configuration is viable so could make for a good media box for a tv. And they’re pretty cheap too

$115 domestic US price for a home-theater PC with all the trimmings on the PCB: https://www.amazon.com/Orange-Pi-Frequency-Development-Andro...

Seems fairly cheap.

Need to add a charger (5V), a box and cooling. More like $160/170. An Intel N100 box or a used miniPC has more mileage. I own myself one of this and the support is pretty bad for anything related to graphics, while headless armbian works fine
