Just look how sloppy and unethical these people are. Not only is the company that conducted this sham "report" partnered with Cardi B's agent, they're literally buddy-buddy with David Wander, the chief digital officer at Jay-Z's Roc Nation. This is clearly a targeted opposition research dressed up as "analysis"

Why would Nicki Minaj (someone with more than 300 million followers across all social media platforms, 26 million on Twitter alone) ever need a bot farm to boost her content?

Really disgraceful that Politico would publish something like this without scrutiny of the source's biases

How many of those 300 million followers are actually bots? The report mentions that around a third of the profiles that engaged in the artist's political content were fake profiles.

Creating controversy on “one side” then artificially heating engagement on the “other side” is a well established and easy to apply media figure manipulation technique.

For the target they’re getting massive rewards and attention to alleviate pressure and anxiety, until they find themselves beholden or spiralling to rediscover relevance. For perpetrators it’s control for cheap.
