Tammany Hall, the building, still stands. Sort of.[1] It hasn't been used for political purposes since the 1970s. It's been through several owners. The entire interior out to the walls was demolished a few years ago, and rebuilt as office space.Slack was supposed to lease the space, but that fell through. There's now a Petco store on the ground floor. There was a liquor store for a while. Big comedown.

(Caveat being that it's very hard to slice lox correctly; you should be able to read the newspaper through it[2]. Preserved Fish the human presumably never had to deal with such problems.)

OP here - thanks for sharing, didn't know that! I found a source (below) that confirms that Acme is the source of the smoked fish, and claims that Acme works with specific delis to make custom lox for each. So the Russ & Daughters version may still be specific to that shop, even though it's all made at Acme originally (and they do ship nationwide: https://russanddaughters.goldbelly.com/).https://www.myjewishlearning.com/the-nosher/the-secret-behin...

I love smoked salmon but in the UK it's mostly farmed trash so I don't buy it any more. If you look hard enough, smoked wild salmon is available, but at ~£1/g it's well out of my price range.
