This is compared to no global warming at all far in the future. Meaning that we will still be richer than today, just not as rich as if we magically could sustain this economic growth without increasing greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere.I think the IPCC reports estimates are more realistic.

On a side note, ultimately the population has also to decrease to hope to reach any sort of sustainability.
